Dr Chong Han Lim, more widely known as Dr Han Lim, is a Pain and Palliative Medicine Physician with a diverse background spanning rural, metropolitan, and specialist practice. Originally from Singapore, he graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School in 2009 and completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014, followed by the Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice in 2018. He spent six years as a rural generalist in Tumby Bay, South Australia, before undertaking advanced specialist training. Dr Lim subsequently achieved Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (RACP) in 2023 and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (ANZCA) in 2024.
Currently, Dr Lim is the only physician in South Australia formally dual-trained in both Pain and Palliative Medicine, uniquely positioned to integrate these complementary fields in the holistic care of patients living with chronic pain and life-limiting illness. His practice encompasses a broad spectrum of pain management, including cancer-related, acute, chronic and transitional pain. He is also deeply committed to teaching and mentoring medical students and junior doctors, nurturing the next generation of compassionate clinicians.
Beyond medicine, Dr Lim’s lifelong passion for food—rooted in his Singaporean heritage—led him to found Katong House, a Singaporean restaurant in South Australia where he personally develops recipes and crafts signature sauces that reflect his cultural roots and creativity. He also holds an MBA from the University of South Australia, combining clinical excellence with business insight.
Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and conversant in Taiwanese and Hokkien, Dr Lim values language as a bridge in caring for patients from diverse backgrounds. Alongside his clinical and culinary pursuits, he has completed eleven degrees and professional qualifications across multiple disciplines and continues to explore innovative, patient-centred ways to improve care and wellbeing.
